Selective late manual harvest of ripe grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Long maturation on the fine lees to lend extra suppleness, texture and complexity.
This 2017 Riesling Spätlese is still an incredibly youthful wine. Nose of ripe mango, pineapple, citrus, apricot and Williams pear alongside notes of cracked stone and some fine peppery lift. The palate is precise, crystalline, elegant and complex. Long, concentrated finish with saline minerality.
Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the Mosel's – and the world's – most famous Riesling vineyards. The heat-absorbing qualities of the weathered blue slate soils on this steep south-to-south-west-facing slope overlooking the River Mosel are perfect for growing grapes. Slate terrain, a steep hill and the cooling influence of the Mosel together create the ideal parameters for Rieslings of exceptional finesse and minerality.
