Each of the grape varieties were fermented separately in concrete with wild yeast. The wine spent 12 months in new French Nevers oak barrels before resting for a further 12 months in concrete tanks. Chateau Musar wines are neither fined nor filtered. The property's reds are normally released after five to seven years. All its wines are vegan-certified.
This vintage of Lebanon's most famous red wine has a nose of blueberry, cranberry and blackcurrant, framed by Mediterranean herbs and spice and a hint of clove. The palate is very balanced, with juicy acidity and well-integrated tannins leading into a persistent finish of ripe cherry, plum and spice alongside a fine sprinkling of pepper. Chateau Musar 2019 is already at the beginning of its drinking window but has tremendous potential for further ageing.
Sourced from vineyards in the southern region of the Bekaa Valley, situated north of Lake Qaraoun around the villages of Aammiq, Aana and Kefraya.
