Meticulous selection of immaculate hand-picked grapes. Gentle pressing followed by wild-yeast fermentation in traditional Fuder (oak casks). Subsequent maturation on the gross lees for 24 months as well as a further 36 months' ageing in bottle before release.
A wine with incredibly complex herbal, pepper and flint notes. The terroir imprint is clearly discernible on the palate. Exceptional elegance.
'Im Laychen' is the name of a plot of ungrafted vines that are at least 130 years old. Situated within the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, its soils consist of blue slate.
