Selective manual harvest of overripe grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Long maturation on the fine lees to lend extra suppleness, texture and complexity.
Pure and elegant on the nose, with intense notes of exotic and candied fruit as well as a touch of ginger. Impressive depth and tension, brilliant acidity and a seamlessly integrated note of botrytis.
Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the Mosel's – and the world's – most famous Riesling vineyards. The heat-absorbing qualities of the weathered blue slate soils on this steep south-to-south-west-facing slope overlooking the River Mosel are perfect for growing grapes. Slate terrain, a steep hill and the cooling influence of the Mosel together create the ideal parameters for Rieslings of exceptional finesse and minerality.
