Meticulous sorting in the vineyard to first ensure that all the fruit is immaculate, and second, to forego the need for fining agents or any other treatments back at the winery. Whole bunch pressing and wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel.
The 2025 Niedermenniger Sonnenberg Spätlese has an intense nose of apricot, mandarin, orange and lychee, marrying beautifully with fine notes of basil and other herbs. Juicy but fresh on the palate, with crisp acidity acting as a perfect counterpoint to the impeccably integrated residual sweetness. This is a wonderfully light and elegant wine with lots of zip. The finish is long, citrus-inflected and slightly salty.
Grey slate dominates this south-facing vineyard, which was planted in 1974.
