Manual harvest of Pinot Noir grapes. There was a short period of maceration on the skins at the winery followed by spontaneous fermentation and vinification in stainless steel, with little to no winemaking intervention. Minimal filtration and addition of sulphur.
A powerful rosé from steep slate vineyards. On the nose, red cherry, orange, grapefruit, spice and hints of rosemary and thyme. Dry on the palate, with light tannins lending body and character. Delicate red fruit, orange and fresh herbs on a long finish. This rosé can already be drunk now but also has ageing potential.
From the steep slate-soil terroir of Batterieberg, hence the name 'ROB' (ROsé from Batterieberg). Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) only accounts for 3% of the estate's total vineyard area, with Riesling accounting for 97%.
