Hand-picked Riesling fruit from the Berg Roseneck grand cru, transported directly back to the winery. Meticulous selection followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation and maturation for 11 months in old 600- and 1,200-litre casks on the fine lees. After bottling, the wine is held back for 60 months for late release.
Ripe nose of citrus and stone fruit alongside smoky notes of flint. On the palate, this is a powerful, concentrated Riesling of impressive depth and drive, underpinned with lots of natural extract. Its multilayered complexity, electrifying freshness and pronounced saline minerality lend a great sense of tension. Still very young, but monumental in character. Exceptionally long finish.
Berg Roseneck faces south and is situated between Berg Schlossberg and Berg Rottland. The soil is shallow, consisting of stony loam with layers of slate and quartzite.
