Hand-picking and stringent grape selection delivered immaculate fruit (100% whole-bunch pressing) for the 2023 Berg Rottland. Fermentation and maturation on the fine lees in large oak casks.
Pure and restrained on the nose, with mandarin and grapefruit framed by smoky, flinty notes and fine herbs. This elegant grand cru Riesling is balanced yet vibrant on the palate, showing depth as well as bright, juicy, refreshing characters. Wonderfully long-lasting finish, with stony minerality, ripe peach and salty lemon.
Berg Rottland is a steep south-facing slope situated on the western edge of Rüdesheim. The vines are around 40 years of age and the soil consists of grey-blue slate with a humus-rich topsoil of loess. This vineyard's warmer, Rhine-influenced microclimate is conducive to early ripening.
