Hand-picking and stringent grape selection delivered immaculate fruit for the Berg Rottland. Some of the grapes are pressed as whole clusters. Fermentation and maturation on the fine lees for 11 months in old 600- and 1,200-litre casks.
Beautiful nose of zesty citrus and ripe stone fruit, complemented by fine herbs, sea breeze and notes of flint. Full-bodied yet balanced and linear on a juicy, vibrant, fresh palate with lovely depth. Long on the finish, with saline minerality, ripe stone fruit and citrus notes.
Berg Rottland is a steep south-facing slope situated on the western edge of Rüdesheim. The vines are around 40 years of age and the soil consists of grey-blue slate with a humus-rich topsoil of loess. This vineyard's warmer, Rhine-influenced microclimate is conducive to early ripening.
