Hand-picking and stringent grape selection delivered immaculate fruit (100% whole-bunch pressing). Fermentation and maturation for 11 months on the fine lees in old 600- and 1,200-litre casks.
The 2024 Pfaffenwies is a pure, profound Riesling. Ripe citrus, tangerine, melon and juicy stone fruit onh an open nose, underscored by a hint of iodine. The palate is full-bodied and dense, showing a bright, juicy mouthfeel, concentrated fruit and cool, mineral grip. Remarkable length on the finish, with a fine, saline note.
Pfaffenwies in Lorch is a site that covers the entire height of the vineyard slope, from the banks of the Rhine up to the edge of the forest. This steep, south-west-facing hill is home to vines planted up to 55 years ago on soils consisting of Hunsrück slate and Taunus quartzite.
