Manual harvest involving several passes through the vineyard. Maceration (skin contact) for 12 hours followed by wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel.
The mineral-rich limestone of the Kirchspiel grand cru brings together notes of chalk, flint, stone fruit and dried blossom. This wonderful, concentrated village-level Riesling has a long finish.
The grapes for this village-level bottling came from the Westhofener Kirchspiel vineyard. The terroir consists of heavy clay marl interspersed with limestone. Water-bearing veins of limestone help to keep the vines hydrated even in the hottest conditions.
