The primary focus during the vinification stage is on the preserving and expressing the purity of the fruit picked in the vineyard. Selective manual harvest followed by slow fermentation based on the wild yeasts that occur naturally in the vineyard – a process that can last more than 10 months. Maturation in traditional Mosel Fuder (oak casks).
Reductive nose with pronounced stony minerality and great tension. Assertive on the palate, with ripe fruit, tremendous succulence and exceptional drinkability. Minerality clearly takes the lead, lending the wine precision and depth. This impressive Riesling is bursting with energy and power. The finish is very long and intense.
The Falkenlay plot is located between Fahrlay and Rothenpfad. The soil is deeper than in other vineyards and characterised by grey slate. Protected from the cold winds blowing in from the eastern mountain saddle, the grapes always reach a special level of ripeness here. Clemens and son Johannes Busch practises certified organic and biodynamic viticulture.
