Domaine Bachelet-Monnot
Brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet currently farm almost 24 hectares of prime vineyard on the Côte d’Or. Their ethos is to produce wines with depth of depth, structure, and clear minerality. It’s a young success story that has developed rapidly – within just a few years, Bachelet-Monnot has established itself as one of Burgundy’s top producers. Their wines are highly sought after and in demand worldwide.
Domaine Bachelet-Monnot is based in Dezize-lès-Maranges, a typical Burgundian village situated eight kilometres south-west of Chassagne-Montrachet on the Côte d’Or.
Winemaking in their genes
The domaine was founded in 2005 by the dedicated brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet. A passion for viticulture runs deep in their family – passed down from their parents and grandparents. After completing their oenology studies, both gained valuable experience at renowned estates in France and abroad before founding their own winery.
Today, their vineyards stretch from Maranges through Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet all the way to Pommard – covering Grand Cru, Premier Cru, and Village sites across the communes of Puligny-Montrachet, Santenay, Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Maranges, and Dezize-lès-Maranges.
A sustainable approach
Deeply aware of the richness and rarity of their terroir, Marc and Alexandre are committed to an environmentally friendly, organic approach to viticulture (without certification). They avoid the use of chemicals, instead regularly aerating the soils, deliberately limiting yields, and harvesting exclusively by hand – often in several passes. Their goal is to preserve the identity of each individual site and to promote the natural balance of the vines. The red vines average around 55 years of age, the white ones about 45.
Depending on the vintage and the wine, maturation takes place over 12 to 18 months – first in oak barrels, then in stainless steel tanks. The result is wines of great finesse, precision, and balance – elegant, profound, and unmistakably Burgundian.
