Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Six months of maturation on the fine lees in stainless steel before bottling and subsequent release.
Bright gold. Delightful fruit aromas of ripe peach and sweet apricot, along with minerally, herbal notes. A subtle attack of bright citrus on entry, complemented by traces of white pepper. This wine has a powerful, minerally structure, showing elegant fruit and poised interplay between racy acidity and exquisite sweetness. Long and elegant on the finish.
Bassermann-Jordan own 0.75 hectares in this vineyard. Pechstein means 'pitchstone', which refers to the black basalt in the soil. This volcanic rock is interspersed with sandy loam, while sandstone gravel and clay are also prominent in certain places.
