Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Six months of maturation on the fine lees in stainless steel before bottling and subsequent release.
Clean as a whistle and wonderfully pure on the nose. Bright and juicy, with ripe fruit, a delicate bitter note, candied fruit and a touch of flint. A very elegant Riesling of great potential.
Bassermann-Jordan own 0.75 hectares in this vineyard. Pechstein means 'pitchstone', which refers to the black basalt in the soil. This volcanic rock is interspersed with sandy loam, while sandstone gravel and clay are also prominent in certain places.
