Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming followed by fermentation on the skins for two to three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, then gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in small oak barrels. No filtering and or any other treatment.
Deep ruby. Lovely aromas of cherry, raspberry, tobacco and black tea on the nose. Very juicy on the palate, with a concentrated, powerful structure. This is an elegant wine with good length on a balanced finish.
The Steinwingert vineyard slopes south towards Wissembourg in Alsace. The vines grow on a heavy topsoil of loam and clay over a bedrock of limestone.
