Manual harvest followed by gentle pressing. Wild-yeast fermentation, with the wine subsequently spending time in a 1,000- or 500-litre cask. No chemical additions. Each separate bottling is made from a single cask.
From a Fuder (or cask) that was named 'Gisela', this extremely complex Riesling has an intense nose showing herbs, lemon and dusty minerality alongside a helping of fresh dark berries. Lots of tension on the palate, with mineral grip. Multilayered and incredibly long finish.
The Weber family farms 13 hectares in a tributary valley of the Saar called 'Konzer Tälchen', which means 'the little valley of Konz'. Most of the vineyards have a southerly aspect and iron-rich, grey-slate soils.
