Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes underwent an eight-hour cold maceration ('cold soak'). After being pressed gently and slowly, the juice was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, where it also then spent 10 months on the gross lees without any bâtonnage (lees stirring).
Ripe white-fruit aromas dovetail with fine salinity to form an elegant, ultra-fine ensemble. The palate displays immense drive, depth and precision, sustained by a long, linear finish. A Riesling of thrilling minerality and tension.
Organically farmed grapes from 'Im oberen Letten' – an Erste Lage (premier cru) with a type of loam soil referred to as 'Letten', which is rich in limestone but also contains marl and fine-grained clay. This soil has good water retention qualities but still allows the vines to dig their roots deep into the ground.
