The grapes were picked by hand in the early hours of the morning and gently pressed. After being left to settle and clarify naturally for 24 hours, the juice was racked and then fermented in traditional 1,200-litre casks. The wine remained on the fine lees until bottling in April, gaining extra complexity and structure in the process.
Floral, herbal and yellow-fruit notes on the nose. Cool and taut on the palate, with lots of tension, zip, saltiness and citrus characters. Wonderfully juicy and minerally on the finish.
The vineyard is situated on the gently sloped western side of Deidesheim near the edge of the Palatinate Forest. It is completely south-facing and enjoys an abundance of sunlight.
