The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are picked by hand and gently pressed as whole bunches in a pneumatic press, with the juice undergoing wild-yeast fermentation. Subsequent maturation for 12 months in one- to three-year-old used oak barrels, followed by a further six months in tank.
Nose of citrus, white blossom, green apple and flint alongside notes of hazelnut, smoke and delicate, fine oak. Dry on the palate, with juicy acidity, a full body and a long, salty, mineral finish.
Les Chalumeaux is situated near the hamlet of Blagny. The vineyard has an east-facing slope with calcareous, marly and very stony soil. Its Chardonnay vines are around 25 years old.
