Hand-picked Riesling fruit from the estate's top single vineyards, transported directly back to the winery. Meticulous selection followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation mainly in large oak casks and the wine then spends eleven months on its fine lees.
Lovely cool nose of yellow fruit, citrus, peach, wild blossom, wet stone and white pepper. The palate is taut and generously textured, but also linear, crisp and zippy. Wonderful long finish with striking minerality and notes of preserved lemon.
Sourced from the second-best parcels of the most iconic steep vineyards in Rüdesheim (Berg Roseneck, Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland), Rauenthal (Nonnenberg) and Lorch (Pfaffenwies). Deep phyllite, loam and quartzite soils. 'Terra Montosa' is Latin for steep, mountainous land. This is very apt, considering the topography of the vineyards.
