Selective harvest followed by a cold maceration ('cold soak'). Fermentation in open-top fermenters. Gentle pressing then maturation for 12 months in French oak barrels.
The 2021 McRae Wood Shiraz has an intense nose of violet, redcurrant and ripe plum, framed by delicate spice and fine oak notes in the background. Dense, concentrated fruit on the palate, with ripe plum and dark berries alongside elegant, fine tannins. An intense red wine with a long-lasting finish and impressive depth.
The McRae Wood Shiraz is made from fruit grown in various plots owned by the Barry family in Clare Valley, including grapes declassified from the Armagh vineyard. The soils range from red clay loam to sandy gravel.
