Meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes. Destemming followed by fermentation on the skins for three weeks in open-top oak fermenters and vats, then gentle pressing. Subsequent maturation for 18 months in small barrels made from German and French oak. No filtering and or any other treatment.
The aromas on the nose are relatively dark and warm, rounded off by fine herbal characters, red fruit and elegant oak notes. This is a compact, structured, dense Pinot Noir, endowed with lovely sense of ripeness as well as considerable tension.
Der Kammerberg wurde 1965 von Friedrich Becker wiederentdeckt und 1967 erstmals wieder bepflanzt. Er liegt im französischen Teil der Einzellage Sonnenberg. Die bis zu 30 Prozent steile Südlage fällt in Richtung Wissembourg ab. Der Oberboden besteht aus schwerem Lehm und Ton, der Untergrund aus massivem Kalkstein.
