Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Destemming followed by controlled maceration (skin contact). Subsequent fermentation for three to four weeks – one part in temperature-controlled stainless steel, the other in large oak casks. Maturation in large oak casks and 228-litre small oak barrels.
Fruit aromas dominate on the nose, showing top notes of cherry, lingonberry, pepper and tobacco, complemented by herbal notes and subtle hints of oriental spice. This Châteauneuf is very balanced on the palate, showing fine, silky tannins and a long, cherry-driven finish.
From vines with an average age of over 40 years, grown on soils consisting mainly of yellow and red sand, red calcareous clay, and galet stones.
