Manual harvest and meticulous selection followed by destemming and subsequent wild-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine spends 12 months in used French oak barrels.
On the nose, this Tempranillo smells of ripe forest fruit, herbs, potpourri, fine spice and delicate hints of ageing in used oak. The palate is medium-bodied with lots of freshness alongside soft, ripe tannins. A vein of chalky minerality helps to complement what is an elegant, pure, harmonious and long finish.
Comprising a mere 0.9 hectares, the east-facing Casablanca vineyard is located in the village of Gumiel de Mercado. Its vines grow on calcareous and clayey soils interspersed with sand at an altitude of 884 metres.
