Podere Le Scuderie
Imbued with a lovely fresh, light touch, the wines at Podere Le Scuderie tell their own stories without departing from the classic Bolgheri style.
Podere Le Scuderie is based in the village of Castagneto Carducci in the heart of the famous Bolgheri region on the Tuscan coast. Its name refers to the region’s stud farms (‘scuderie’), which are known around the world for breeding champion racing horses.
Bolgheri with a clear focus
Podere Le Scuderie is a young, stylish label set up only a few years ago by siblings Giuliano and Gessica Frollani, who can draw on a wealth of winegrowing expertise honed by generations of their family. Producing around 60,000 bottles of wine every year, this has very much been a high-end operation from the outset. Emiliano Falsini, one of the country’s leading consulting oenologists, is responsible for winemaking at the estate. He is adept at marrying traditional and innovative methods to produce wines that remain true to the prestigious and popular Bolgheri style but offer unique character and freshness.
Elegance and complexity from an exceptional location
Until the late 1980s, the Podere Le Scuderie property was used to grow fruit and vegetables. Vines only came later. These holdings sit like a natural amphitheatre in the Bolgheri foothills. The lie of the land, combined with the influence of the nearby sea, results in a unique microclimate that helps the grapes reach a perfect state of ripeness. Both the Mediterranean weather and a range of varied, complex soils lend the wines their own singular elegance, complexity and characters.
