The grapes were picked in two separate passes through the vineyard. After fermentation, the two resultant batches of fruit were transferred into a large oak cask.
Flint, peach, exotic fruit (passion fruit and grapefruit) and a hint of citrus on the nose. Extremely vibrant with succulent phenolics and a particularly fine structure. Minerality coupled with electrifying acidity make this is a monumental wine. Excellent ageing potential.
Kirchenstück is the best-rated vineyard in the Pfalz. In acknowledgement of its exceptional status, the site was awarded the highest ranking during the royal Bavarian land classification of 1828. Kirchenstück benefits from its situation on the gentle slope directly adjacent to the village of Forst. The sandstone buildings and the surrounding knee-high sandstone wall absorb the sun's warmth and radiate it back towards the vines at night.
