Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation on the skins in a traditional open-top oak fermenter. Gentle pressing followed by maturation for around 18 months in 228-litre Burgundian oak barrels. Then bottling.
The 2023 vintage from this famed vineyard with shallow, gravelly topsoil has a cool and powerful character, with notes of sour cherry and wild roses. Its noble flavours last long on the finish. This is the estate's flagship wine.
The Fürst family own 2.5 hectares in this partially terraced vineyard next to the town of Burgstädt. Since 2003, the estate has been producing a Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs from this stony plot composed of weathered red sandstone. This soil is perfect for growing vines, as it absorbs the sun's warmth while also providing good drainage and aeration.
