Organic
Traditional fermentation in concrete, triggered by wild yeasts native to the vineyard. Subsequent maturation for 12 months in Burgundy casks and 600-litre demi-muids. No filtration before bottling.
Deep ruby colour. The nose shows ripe berries – blackberry and blackcurrant – followed by pepper, lebkuchen spice and Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary and sage. This is a complex red wine with a balanced full body, ripe tannins, wonderful fruit expression, remarkable concentration, and a slightly saline characteristic. It has a good many years ahead of it.
Château de Rouanne in Vinsobres is situated some 45 km north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in a relatively cooler corner of the Southern Rhône. It comprises 62 hectares. The fruit came from organically farmed vines planted around 50 years ago on marl and limestone soil.
