Lis Neris
For five generations, the Pecorari family have been working passionately to make Lis Neris one of the best wineries in Friuli. White wines are the main focus at the estate, because white grapes reflect the local terroir better.
Since 1879, the Pecorari family have been practising viticulture from their base in the old village of San Lorenzo. Comprising 70 hectares, the estate vineyards are situated between the Slovenian border to the north and the right bank of the Isonzo river to the south, on a small plateau where the stony, gravelly terrain dates back to the Quaternary era. Today, Alvaro Pecorari represents the fifth generation to run the property.
Harnessing nature
Lis Neris puts great emphasis on harnessing nature to produce high-quality wines of finesse and elegance, while making use of its modern cellar equipment to express the full potential of the local terroir. The top wines are raised in French oak for even greater complexity and finesse. It is no coincidence that the winery’s track record in the Gambero Rosso Italian wine guide currently amounts to nine two-glass ratings and three three-glass ratings.
“The Isonzo river valley is a special place where the Mediterranean dream meets Nordic rigour.”
