Château Peyrassol is an address where history, art and viticultural tradition intersect – a source of excellent Provençal rosés imbued with freshness, elegance and distinctive terroir expression.

The path to quality

This historic wine estate in Provence has a long and rich history. Established back in the 13th century by the Order of the Knights Templar, Château Peyrassol is nestled amid the picturesque hills of the Massif des Maures that lie between the Mediterranean and the first tentative contours of the Alps. Comprising calcareous marl with many nuances (from traces of clay in an amphitheatre-like clos, to spartan hillside plots), the terroir on this property is as varied as the wines themselves – producing powerful reds, elegant whites and, not least, Peyrassol’s characterful flagship rosés.

After acquiring the estate in 2001, the current owner, Philippe Austruy, brought in a team of experts to revamp every aspect of the winery. Austruy and his team identified different plots across estate’s 92 hectares of vineyard, treating each of the parcels individually and selecting the ideal grape varieties for the microclimates at their disposal – an approach clearly reflected in the quality of the wines.

Fresh, light, minerally rosés made with love

The rosés of Château Peyrassol are the epitome of Provençal joie de vivre, with Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Tibouren lending them freshness, finesse and aromatic depth. Red berries, citrus and floral hints framed by fine minerality make these light but charismatic wines the ideal accompaniment to summer. Winemaking at the estate follows eco-friendly principles emphasising a respect for nature. The certified-organic label has applied to all of the wines since the 2022 vintage.

A place for wine, art and culture

Philippe Austruy is not only a wine lover, but also an art collector who has turned Château Peyrassol into a notable destination for contemporary art. His vineyards and the old stone walls that surround them are home to one of Europe’s most remarkable open-air art collections, featuring installations by internationally renowned artists. Regular exhibitions from stars like Anish Kapoor set contemporary art in juxtaposition with the unique natural charm of Provence.

Château Peyrassol is a real gem for anyone looking for authentic Provençal rosés from a historic address rich in soul and sophistication.
