Château Les Hauts Conseillants

Wooden barrels in the cellar of Château Les Hauts Conseillants

From opportune beginnings, this outstanding estate in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation has made a name for itself with its complex, supple claret.

When Paul Figeac saw his daughter marry Pierre Bourotte, already a Pomerol château owner, an old desire gripped him – to plant vines, watch them grow, and make his own wine.

An opportunity too good to miss

Pierre Bourotte, who has always been adept at getting things done, joined his father-in-law on a quest to breathe new life into a neglected patch of land in Lalande-de-Pomerol. It was 1973, and the world was about to plunge into economic crisis – but this was an opportunity too good for Pierre and Paul to miss.

A new generation

Their project was a success. The vineyards that they planted back then are now fully mature, producing wines of innate suppleness, depth and complexity. Pierre Bourotte’s son Jean-Baptiste now manages the family estates, continuing the story that began with his father’s marriage vows.
