Ribera del Duero, Spain
Castillejo de Robledo - De Andrés Sisters
Tempranillo is probably the best-known and best-loved grape variety in Ribera del Duero. The easy-drinking wines of Castillejo de Robledo are wonderful representatives of this grape.
Dynamic sisters Ruth and Ana Andrés make wine at Castillejo de Robledo with great joy and dedication. Fittingly, ‘Alegra’, the name of their Crianza bottling, is a present-tense conjugation of the Spanish verb ‘alegrar’, which means to ‘cheer up’ or ‘make happy’.
A varied terroir for Tempranillo
The Castillejo de Robledo estate comprises 218 hectares of land, of which 150 hectares are under vine, divided into 115 plots covering numerous soils, aspects and altitudes. Ruth and Ana take these physical variations into account to express the character of their fruit as best they can. They grow different clones of Ribeira del Duero’s classic grape Tempranillo.
