Special characteristic

Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Cold maceration ('cold soak') for around 12 hours, followed by gentle pressing, then wild-yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Subsequent maturation on the lees until just before bottling, to add complexity and body.

This is a pure, compact, fresh and extremely grippy Kirschgarten. The palate has substance, with well-defined acidity and an impressive finish.

This sheltered, south-east-facing site is one of the best-known terroirs in the Pfalz. The fruit came from old vines that sit on a ridge of limestone bedrock underlying a topsoil of fine limestone mixed with a thin layer of loess.
