Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in oak casks (partially with wild yeasts). Subsequent maturation on the fine lees through the winter until bottling in the spring

Pale lemon. Minerality and citrus aromas dominate on the nose. On the palate, this wonderfully assertive wine has the compactness that you would expect from a Halgans, featuring a complex interplay between spicy/minerally elements and ripe, fruity notes.

Halgans is the new name for the bottling previously called 'Halenberg trocken', and the local term for a species of crane – a pointed reference to Halenberg's special microclimate. Strong thermal winds blow through the vineyard – warm air currents that rise up the steep slope (gradient of up to 70 degrees) from the valley below. As a result, the grapes are smaller and develop an especially exquisite aroma. The predominant soils on this south-facing incline consist of slate and quartzite.
