Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Fermentation on the skins in a traditional open-top oak fermenter. Gentle pressing followed by maturation for around 18 months in Burgundian oak barrels. Then bottling.

Complex nose with forward blue berry notes and an inherent sense of ripeness. Full-bodied on the palate, with hints of red forest fruit.

The grapes for this village-level bottling come from the grand cru site Schlossberg. In 2004, the Fürst family acquired three plots in this celebrated vineyard overlooking the town of Klingenberg. Schlossberg has an average incline of 60%, although the slope is even as steep as 95% in some places. Manual farming is time-consuming but the only option in this vineyard. Terraces have been built to make things a little easier, with three kilometres of listed natural dry-stone wall helping to support each single hectare of vines. The vineyard is very densely planted, containing around 13,000 vines per hectare. Most of the plots consist of old vines on red, stony soil.
