The ripest Pinot Noir grapes were picked into small crates and then cooled down. Following a cold soak, the grape skins were gently pushed down by hand in 15-hectolitre vessels. The wine was subsequently matured for 18 months in high-quality 225-litre Allier oak barrels.

Medium ruby. Spicy, fruity nose of cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry along with aromas of dark baked bread and liquorice. Full-bodied and balanced on the palate, with concentrated fruit and ripe tannins. Minerally, spicy finish.

From a low-lying site that benefits from a south-south-westerly aspect as well as proximity to the Klingnau reservoir. The older vines grow on shell-limestone sediment.
