Special characteristic

Grapes from organically farmed vineyards, picked and destemmed by hand. Les Poyeux spends 12 months in used French oak barrels and a further seven months in concrete.

Powerful nose of red and black fruit, sage, and wild flowers. The palate is dense, vibrant, minerally and complex, with impressive freshness and energy.

The estate comprises 12 hectares of vineyard around the village of Varrains in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Les Poyeux benefits from a perfect southerly aspect with lots of sunlight. The vines sit on yellow sandstone in the upper part of the slope and on loam and limestone further down.
