Fermentation in cement vessels, with subsequent maturation for six to nine months in vessels made of French oak (from the forest of Nevers). No filtering. Bottling ageing for a few years, followed by release for sale four years after harvest.
Bright ruby, with red fruit, plum and cherry on the nose and palate. Balanced and elegant, combining vibrant fruit with soft tannins and good acidity. A wine that you can cellar for a good few years.
Sourced from a specific single vineyard situated near the village of Aana in the southern region of the Bekaa Valley. The vines, which were planted around 50 years ago on calcareous, well-drained soil 1,000 metres above sea level, yield a maximum crop of 25 and 30 hectolitres per hectare. Hochar Père et Fils is erroneously referred to as the 'little brother' of Chateau Musar, but it is an exceptional wine in its own right, offering great concentration and depth.
