Deep ruby colour, multilayered and complexe aromas on the nose. Full-bodied on the palate, dark fruit, smoked meat, spices and hints of chocolate. Polished tannins and a tremendous finish.
Cold maceration ('cold soak') in concrete vessels followed by native-yeast fermentation. Gentle extraction and subsequent maturation for 18 months in 20% first-use French oak. No fining or filtering.
Grown mostly in the sandy soils of the medium and lower sections of the estate's Red Mountain vineyard. These blocks have a west-south-west aspect and are situated at an altitude of 293 to 375 metres above sea level.
